  • $2,000 will be awarded to up to 1,300 schools
  • $10,000 will be awarded to up to 50 schools
  • $100,000 will be awarded to 8 school districts

Complete an on-line application by September 30, 2007. Winners of the $2,000 and $10,000 awards will be announced in February 2008, and eight $100,000 district-level awards in May 2008.

First, let me say the one page, on-line application looks very easy. The grant winners will receive $3,ooo in the hardware, software, and server access needed for podcasting. I am ready to apply, but since I don’t have any students of my own, and don’t think it wise to start dictating what one of you is going to do with your students, I’m looking for a teacher who is willing to try something new. I’ll write the grant, with your input. I already have some teachers in mind. You know who you are! Let’s do this!

Grants will be judged based on:

  • Effective integration of podcasting in the curriculum.
  • Effective use of ALL the resources provided by the grant.
  • High degree of student involvement. We are looking for projects which involve the entire class in a variety of capacities for a group project, or where each student gets the opportunity to build their own project.
  • Creativity and fun. Our judges are looking for great projects that they would like to take part in!

Deadlines: June 30, 2007 – 3 Winners; December 30, 2007 – 4 Winners; April 30, 2008 – 3 Winners
