Kids Are Authors

Kids are Authors is Scholastic’s annual competition for teams of three or more  students who write and illustrate their own books. Scholastic Book Fairs will publish the winning books and distribute them at Book Fairs throughout the country. The 2006 Nonfiction Winner was What Do You Call a Rhyming Riddle? A Hinky Pinky! It was written and illustrated by Fifth grade students at the St. Joseph Montessori School in Columbus, OH. The 2006 Fiction Winner was Problems with Pete the Pencil and Eddie the Eraser. It was written and illustrated by Third grade students at Kingsland Elementary in Spring Valley, MN. See the Rules & Entry Form web page at Scholastic for all the details.

  • Deadline: March 15, 2007
  • 2 Grand Prize schools: $5,000 in merchandise
  • 25 Honorable Mentions: $500 in merchandise
  • Winners announced by May 31st
